The Winter Meetings

The Winter Meetings

The Winter Meetings are under way in San Diego and we have seen some moves. Miguel Montero was traded to the Cubs and Francisco Liriano resigned with the Pirates with a $39 million deal. The WhiteSox have made some big moves. They traded with the Athletics and acquired Jeff Samardzija. They also inked David Robertson with a 4 year $46 million deal. The White Sox were not the only busy Chicago team as the Cubs signed Jason Hammel to a two year $18 million deal. The Cubs are going after Jon Lester hard. It appears that Jon Lester will make his decision in the next couple of days. It appears he will choose between the Cubs , Giants , Red Sox , and Dodgers. Some sources say the Yankees may be in the mix. The Oakland Athletics have been making noise this winter. They are trading away some of their best players. The A's have parted ways with Jeff Samardzija , Jason Hammel , and Brandon Moss. They have also traded Josh Donaldson for Brett Lawrie. It appears that the A's are looking to rebuild. The A's always seem to tear it down but these moves usually pan out for them. The A's still have Scott Kazmir , Sonny Gray , and Jarod Parker coming back from injury. I trust Billy Beane and even if the A's are rebuilding they will make enough moves to still compete. The winter meetings continue this week and when any moves are made we will give you the update.
